AND when Rechav'am was come to Yerushalayim, he gathered of the house of Yahudah and Binyamiyn a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Yashar'el, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rechav'am.
But the Word of Yahuah came to Shema'yahu the man of Elohiym, saying,
Speak unto Rechav'am the son of Shalomah, king of Yahudah, and to all Yashar'el in Yahudah and Binyamiyn, saying,
Thus says Yahuah, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren: return every man to his house: for this thing is done of me. And they obeyed the words of Yahuah, and returned from going against Yarov'am.
And Rechav'am dwelt in Yerushalayim, and built cities for defence in Yahudah.
He built even Beyt Lechem, and Eytam, and Teqoa,
And Beyt Tsur, and Sokoh, and Adullam,
And Gath, and Mar'eshah, and Ziyph,
And Adorayim, and Lakiysh, and Azeqah,
And Tsor'ah, and Ayalon, and Chevron, which are in Yahudah and in Binyamiyn fenced cities.
And he fortified the strongholds, and put captains in them, and store of victual, and of oil and wine.
And in every several city he put shields and spears, and made them exceeding strong, having Yahudah and Binyamiyn on his side.
And the priests and the Leviyiym that were in all Yashar'el resorted to him out of all their coasts.
For the Leviyiym left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Yahudah and Yerushalayim: for Yarov'am and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto Yahuah:
And he ordained him priests for the high places, and for the devils, and for the calves which he had made.
And after them out of all the tribes of Yashar'el such as set their hearts to seek Yahuah Elohai of Yashar'el came to Yerushalayim, to sacrifice unto Yahuah Elohai of their fathers.
So they strengthened the kingdom of Yahudah, and made Rechav'am the son of Shalomah strong, three years: for three years they walked in the way of Daviyd and Shalomah.
And Rechav'am took him Machalath the daughter of Yeriymoth the son of Daviyd to be his woman, and Aviyhayil the daughter of Eliy'av the son of Yishai;
Which bore him children; Ye'iysh, and Shemaryahu, and Zaham.
And after her he took Ma`akah the daughter of Avshalom; which bore him Aviyahu, and Attai, and Ziyza, and Shelomiyth.
And Rechav`am loved Ma`akah the daughter of Avshalom above all his women and his concubines: (for he took eighteen women, and threescore concubines; and begat twenty and eight sons, and threescore daughters.)
And Rechav`am made Aviyahu the son of Ma`akah the chief, to be ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him king.
And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his children throughout all the countries of Yahudah and Binyamiyn, unto every fenced city: and he gave them victual in abundance. And he desired many women.
