SO when Daviyd was old and full of days, he made Shalomah his son king over Yashar'el.
And he gathered together all the princes of Yashar'el, with the priests and the Leviyiym.
Now the Leviyiym were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of Yahuah; and six thousand were officers and judges:
Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised Yahuah with the instruments which I made, said Daviyd, to praise therewith.
And Daviyd divided them into courses among the sons of Leviy, namely, Gershon, Qohath, and Merariy.
Of the Gereshunniym were, La'dan, and Shim'iy.
The sons of La'dan; the chief was Yechiy'el, and Zetham, and Yo'el, three.
The sons of Shim'iy; Shelomiyth, and Chaziy'el, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of La'dan.
And the sons of Shim'iy were, Yachath, Ziyna, and Ye'iysh, and Beriy'ah. These four were the sons of Shim'iy.
And Yachath was the chief, and Ziyzah, the second: but Ye'iysh and Beriy'ah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father's house.
The sons of Qohath; Amram, Yitshar, Chevron, and Uzziy'el, four.
The sons of Amram; Aharon and Mosheh: and Aharon was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons forever, to burn incense before Yahuah, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name forever.
Now concerning Mosheh the man of Elohiym, his sons were named of the tribe of Leviy.
The sons of Mosheh were, Gershem, and Eliy`ezer.
Of the sons of Gershem, Shevu'el was the chief.
And the sons of Eliy`ezer were, Rechavyahu the chief. And Eliy`ezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rechavyahu were very many.
Of the sons of Yitshar; Shelomiyth the chief.
Of the sons of Chevron; Yeriyahu the first, Amaryahu the second, Yachaziy'el the third, and Yeqam'am the fourth.
Of the sons of Uzziy'el; Miykah the first, and Yishshiyahu the second.
The sons of Merariy; Machliy, and Mushiy. The sons of Machliy; El`azar, and Qiysh.
And El`azar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Qiysh took them.
The sons of Mushiy; Machliy, and Eder, and Yeriymoth, three.
These were the sons of Leviy after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of Yahuah, from the age of twenty years and upward.
For Daviyd said, Yahuah Elohai of Yashar'el has given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Yerushalayim forever:
And also unto the Leviyiym; they shall no more carry the Tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
For by the last words of Daviyd the Leviyiym were numbered from twenty years old and above:
Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aharon for the service of the house of Yahuah, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of Elohiym;
Both for the showbread, and for the fine flour for an oblation, and for the matstsah cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
And to stand every morning to thank and praise Yahuah, and likewise at evening;
And to offer all ascending smoke sacrifices unto Yahuah in the Shabbaths, in the New Moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before Yahuah:
And that they should guard the watch of the Tabernacle of the assembly, and the watch of the holy place, and the watch of the sons of Aharon their brethren, in the service of the house of Yahuah.
