Chapter 18

1

NOW after this it came to pass, that Daviyd smote the Pelishtiym, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Pelishtiym.

2

And he smote Mo'av; and the Mo'aviym became Daviyd's servants, and brought gifts.

3

And Daviyd smote Hadar'ezer king of Tsovah unto Chamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Perath.

4

And Daviyd took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: Daviyd also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them a hundred chariots.

5

And when the Arammiym of Damascus came to help Hadar'ezer king of Tsovah, Daviyd slew of the Arammiym two and twenty thousand men.

6

Then Daviyd put garrisons in Aram Damascus; and the Arammiym became Daviyd's servants, and brought gifts. Thus Yahuah preserved Daviyd whithersoever he went.

7

And Daviyd took את the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadar'ezer, and brought them to Yerushalayim.

8

Likewise from Tivchath, and from Kun, cities of Hadar'ezer, brought Daviyd very much brass, wherewith Shalomah made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.

9

Now when To'u king of Chamath heard how Daviyd had smitten all the host of Hadar'ezer king of Tsovah;

10

He sent Hadoram his son to King Daviyd, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadar'ezer, and smitten him; (for Hadar'ezer had war with To'u;) and with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.

11

Them also King Daviyd dedicated unto Yahuah, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Mo'av, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Pelishtiym, and from Amaleq.

12

Moreover Aviyshai the son of Tseruyah slew of the Edomiym in the valley of Salt eighteen thousand.

13

And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomiym became Daviyd's servants. Thus Yahuah preserved Daviyd whithersoever he went.

14

So Daviyd reigned over all Yashar'el, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.

15

And Yo'av the son of Tseruyah was over the host; and Yahushaphat the son of Achiylud, recorder.

16

And Tsadoq the son of Achiytuv, and Aviymelek the son of Avyathar, were the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;

17

And Benayahu the son of Yahuyada was over the Kerethiym and the Pelethiym; and the sons of Daviyd were chief about the king.
