THEN all Yashar'el gathered themselves to El-Daviyd unto Chevron, saying, Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.
And moreover in time past, even when Sha'ul was king, you were he that led out and brought in Yashar'el: and Yahuah Elohaykem said unto you, You shall feed my people Yashar'el, and you shall be ruler over my people Yashar'el.
Therefore came all the elders of Yashar'el to the king to Chevron; and Daviyd cut a covenant with them in Chevron before Yahuah; and they anointed Daviyd king over Yashar'el, according to the Word of Yahuah by Shemu'el.
And Daviyd and all Yashar'el went to Yerushalayim, which is Yevuc; where the Yevuciym were, the inhabitants of the land.
And the inhabitants of Yevuc said to Daviyd, You shall not come hither. Nevertheless Daviyd took the castle of Tsiyon, which is the city of Daviyd.
And Daviyd said, Whosoever smites the Yevuciym first shall be chief and captain. So Yo'av the son of Tseruyah went first up, and was chief.
And Daviyd dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of Daviyd.
And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Yo'av repaired the rest of the city.
So Daviyd waxed greater and greater: for Yahuah Tseva'oth was with him.
These also are the chief of the mighty men whom Daviyd had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Yashar'el, to make him king, according to the Word of Yahuah concerning Yashar'el.
And this is the number of the mighty men whom Daviyd had; Yashov'am, a Chakmoniy, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time.
And after him was El`azar the son of Dodo, the Achochiy, who was one of the three mighties.
He was with Daviyd at Pac Dammiym, and there the Pelishtiym were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Pelishtiym.
And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Pelishtiym; and Yahuah saved them by a great deliverance.
Now three of the thirty captains went down to the rock to Daviyd, into the cave of Adullam; and the host of the Pelishtiym encamped in the valley of Repha'iym.
And Daviyd was then in the hold, and the Pelishtiym's garrison was then at Beyt Lechem.
And Daviyd longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Beyt Lechem, that is at the gate!
And the three broke through the host of the Pelishtiym, and drew water out of the well of Beyt Lechem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to Daviyd: but Daviyd would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahuah,
And said, My Elohiym forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
And Aviyshai the brother of Yo'av, he was chief of the three: for lifting up his spear against three hundred, he slew them, and had a name among the three.
Of the three, he was more honorable than the two; for he was their captain: howbeit he attained not to the first three.
Benayahu the son of Yahuyada, the son of a valiant man of Qavtse'el, who had done many acts; he slew את two lionlike men of Mo'av: also he went down and slew a lion in a pit in a snowy day.
And he slew a Mitsriy, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Mitsriy's hand was a spear like a weaver's beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Mitsriy's hand, and slew him with his own spear.
These things did Benayahu the son of Yahuyada, and had the name among the three mighties.
Behold, he was honorable among the thirty, but attained not to the first three: and Daviyd set him over his guard.
