AND the men of Ephrayim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Yiphtach, Wherefore passed you over to fight against the children of Ammon, and did not call us to go with you? we will burn your house upon you with fire.
And Yiphtach said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and Yahuah delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
Then Yiphtach gathered together all the men of Gil'ad, and fought with Ephrayim: and the men of Gil'ad smote Ephrayim, because they said, Ye Gil'adiym are fugitives of Ephrayim among the Ephrathiym, and among the Menashshiym.
And the Gil'adiym took the passages of the Yardan before the Ephrathiym: and it was so, that when those Ephrathiym which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gil'ad said unto him, Are you an Ephrathiy? If he said, Nay;
Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Cibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of the Yardan: and there fell at that time of the Ephrathiym forty and two thousand.
And Yiphtach judged Yashar'el six years. Then died Yiphtach the Gil'adiy, and was buried in one of the cities of Gil'ad.
And after him Ivtsan of Beyt Lechem judged Yashar'el.
And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Yashar'el seven years.
Then died Ivtsan, and was buried at Beyt Lechem.
And after him Eylon, a Zevuloniy, judged Yashar'el; and he judged Yashar'el ten years.
And Eylon the Zevuloniy died, and was buried in Ayalon in the country of Zevulun.
And after him Avdon the son of Hillel, a Pir'athoniy, judged Yashar'el.
And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Yashar'el eight years.
And Avdon the son of Hillel the Pir'athoniy died, and was buried in Pir'athon in the land of Ephrayim, in the mount of the Amaleqiym.
