THERE was also a lot for the tribe of Menashsheh; for he was the firstborn of Yoceph; to wit, for Makiyr the firstborn of Menashsheh, the father of Gil'ad: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gil'ad and Bashan.
There was also a lot for the rest of the children of Menashsheh by their families; for the children of Aviy'ezer, and for the children of Cheleq, and for the children of Asriy'el, and for the children of Shekem, and for the children of Chepher, and for the children of Shemiyda: these were the male children of Menashsheh the son of Yoceph by their families.
But Tselophchad, the son of Chepher, the son of Gil'ad, the son of Makiyr, the son of Menashsheh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Machlah, and No'ah, Choglah, Milkah, and Tirtsah.
And they came near before El`azar the priest, and before Yahusha the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, Yahuah commanded Mosheh to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of Yahuah he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.
And there fell ten portions to Menashsheh, beside the land of Gil'ad and Bashan, which were on the other side of the Yardan;
Because the daughters of Menashsheh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Menashsheh's sons had the land of Gil'ad.
And the coast of Menashsheh was from Asher to Mikmethath, that lies before Shekem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of Eyn Tappuach.
Now Menashsheh had the land of Tappuach: but Tappuach on the border of Menashsheh belonged to the children of Ephrayim;
And the coast descended unto the river Qanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephrayim are among the cities of Menashsheh: the coast of Menashsheh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:
Southward it was Ephrayim's, and northward it was Menashsheh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Yisshakar on the east.
And Menashsheh had in Yisshakar and in Asher Beyt Sha'an and her towns, and Yivle`am and her towns, and the inhabitants of Do'r and her towns, and the inhabitants of Eyn-Do'r and her towns, and the inhabitants of Ta`anak and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.
Yet the children of Menashsheh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Kena`aniym would dwell in that land.
Yet it came to pass, when the children of Yashar'el were waxen strong, that they put the Kena`aniym to tribute; but did not utterly drive them out.
And the children of Yoceph spoke unto Yahusha, saying, Why have you given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as Yahuah has blessed me hitherto?
And Yahusha answered them, If you be a great people, then get you up to the wood country, and cut down for yourself there in the land of the Perizziym and of the Repha'iym, if Mount Ephrayim be too narrow for you.
And the children of Yoceph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Kena`aniym that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Beyt Sha'an and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Yizre'el.
And Yahusha spoke unto the house of Yoceph, even to Ephrayim and to Menashsheh, saying, You are a great people, and have great power: you shall not have one lot only:
But the mountain shall be yours; for it is a wood, and you shall cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be yours: for you shall drive out the Kena`aniym, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.
