IN the seventeenth year of Peqach the son of Remalyahu Achaz the son of Yotham king of Yahudah began to reign.
Twenty years old was Achaz when he began to reign, and reigned sixteen years in Yerushalayim, and did not that which was right in the sight of Yahuah Elohayu, like David his father.
But he walked in the way of the kings of Yashar'el, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom Yahuah cast out from before the children of Yashar'el.
And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
Then Retsiyn king of Aram and Peqach son of Remalyahu king of Yashar'el came up to Yerushalayim to war: and they besieged Achaz, but could not overcome him.
At that time Retsiyn king of Aram recovered Eylath to Aram, and drove the Yahudiym from Eylath: and the Arammiym came to Eylath, and dwelt there unto this day.
So Achaz sent messengers to Tiglath Pil'ecer king of Ashshur, saying, I am your servant and your son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram, and out of the hand of the king of Yashar'el, which rise up against me.
And Achaz took the silver and the gold that was found in the house of Yahuah, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Ashshur.
And the king of Ashshur hearkened unto him: for the king of Ashshur went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Qiyr, and slew Retsiyn.
And King Achaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath Pil'ecer king of Ashshur, and saw an altar that was at Damascus: and King Achaz sent to Uriyahu the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof.
And Uriyahu the priest built an altar according to all that King Achaz had sent from Damascus: so Uriyahu the priest made it against King Achaz came from Damascus.
And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar: and the king approached to the altar, and offered thereon.
And he burnt his ascending smoke offering and his oblation, and poured his drink offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace offerings, upon the altar.
And he brought also את the brasen altar, which was before Yahuah, from the forefront of the house, from between the altar and the house of Yahuah, and put it on the north side of the altar.
And King Achaz commanded Uriyahu the priest, saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning ascending smoke offering, and the evening oblation, and the king's ascending smoke sacrifice, and his oblation, with the ascending smoke offering of all the people of the land, and their oblation, and their drink offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the ascending smoke offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the brasen altar shall be for me to inquire by.
Thus did Uriyahu the priest, according to all that King Achaz commanded.
And King Achaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brasen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stones.
And the covert for the Shabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he from the house of Yahuah for the king of Ashshur.
Now the rest of the acts of Achaz which he did, are they not written in the cepher of the chronicles of the kings of Yahudah?
And Achaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David: and Yechizqiyahu his son reigned in his stead.
