IN the three and twentieth year of Yo'ash the son of Achazyahu king of Yahudah Yahu'achaz the son of Yahu began to reign over Yashar'el in Shomeron, and reigned seventeen years.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahuah, and followed the sins of Yarov'am the son of Nevat, which made Yashar'el to sin; he departed not therefrom.
And the anger of Yahuah was kindled against Yashar'el, and he delivered them into the hand of Chaza'el king of Aram, and into the hand of Ben Hadad the son of Chaza'el, all their days.
And Yahu'achaz besought Yahuah, and Yahuah hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Yashar'el, because the king of Aram oppressed them.
(And Yahuah gave Yashar'el a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Arammiym: and the children of Yashar'el dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Yarov'am, who made Yashar'el sin, but walked therein: and there remained Asherah also in Shomeron.)
Neither did he leave of the people to Yahu'achaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Aram had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
Now the rest of the acts of Yahu'achaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the cepher of the chronicles of the kings of Yashar'el?
And Yahu'achaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Shomeron: and Yo'ash his son reigned in his stead.
In the thirty and seventh year of Yo'ash king of Yahudah began Yahu'ash the son of Yahu'achaz to reign over Yashar'el in Shomeron, and reigned sixteen years.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of Yahuah; he departed not from all the sins of Yarov'am the son of Nevat, who made Yashar'el sin: but he walked therein.
And the rest of the acts of Yo'ash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amatsyahu king of Yahudah, are they not written in the cepher of the chronicles of the kings of Yashar'el?
And Yo'ash slept with his fathers; and Yarov'am sat upon his throne: and Yo'ash was buried in Shomeron with the kings of Yashar'el.
Now Eliysha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Yo'ash the king of Yashar'el came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Yashar'el, and the horsemen thereof.
And Eliysha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
And he said to the king of Yashar'el, Put your hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Eliysha put his hands upon the king's hands.
And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Eliysha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of Yahuah's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Aram: for you shall smite the Arammiym in Apheq, till you have consumed them.
And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Yashar'el, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
And the man of Elohiym was wroth with him, and said, You should have smitten five or six times; then had you smitten Aram till you had consumed it: whereas now you shall smite Aram but thrice.
And Eliysha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Mo'aviym invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Eliysha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Eliysha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
But Chaza'el king of Aram oppressed Yashar'el all the days of Yahu'achaz.
And Yahuah was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Avraham, Yitschaq, and Ya`aqov, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
So Chaza'el king of Aram died; and Ben Hadad his son reigned in his stead.
And Yahu'ash the son of Yahu'achaz took again out of the hand of Ben Hadad the son of Chaza'el the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Yahu'achaz his father by war. Three times did Yo'ash beat him, and recovered the cities of Yashar'el.
