Chapter 3

1

AND the child Shemu'el ministered unto Yahuah before Eliy. And the Word of Yahuah was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

2

And it came to pass at that time, when Eliy was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;

3

And ere the lamp of Elohiym went out in the Temple of Yahuah, where the Ark of Elohiym was, and Shemu'el was laid down to sleep;

4

That Yahuah called El-Shemu'el: and he answered, Here am I.

5

And he ran unto Eliy, and said, Here am I; for you called me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.

6

And Yahuah called yet again, Shemu'el. And Shemu'el arose and went to Eliy, and said, Here am I; for you did call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

7

Now Shemu'el did not yet know Yahuah, neither was the Word of Yahuah yet revealed unto him.

8

And Yahuah called Shemu'el again the third time. And he arose and went to Eliy, and said, Here am I; for you did call me. And Eliy perceived that Yahuah had called the child.

9

Therefore Eliy said unto Shemu'el, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call you, that you shall say, Speak, Yahuah; for your servant hears. So Shemu'el went and lay down in his place.

10

And Yahuah came, and stood, and called as at other times, Shemu'el, Shemu'el. Then Shemu'el answered, Speak; for your servant hears.

11

And Yahuah said to El-Shemu'el, Behold, I will do a thing in Yashar'el, at which both the ears of everyone that hears it shall tingle.

12

In that day I will perform against Eliy את all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

13

For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.

14

And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eliy, that the iniquity of Eliy's house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering forever.

15

And Shemu'el lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of Yahuah. And Shemu'el feared to show Eliy the vision.

16

Then Eliy called Shemu'el, and said, Shemu'el, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

17

And he said, What is the thing that Yahuah has said unto you? I pray you hide it not from me: Elohiym do so to you, and more also, if you hide anything from me of all the things that he said unto you.

18

And Shemu'el told him every word, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is Yahuah: let him do what seems him good.

19

And Shemu'el grew, and Yahuah was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

20

And all Yashar'el from Dan even to Be'er Sheva knew that Shemu'el was established to be a prophet of Yahuah.

21

And Yahuah appeared again in Shiyloh: for Yahuah revealed himself to El-Shemu'el in Shiyloh by the Word of Yahuah.
