Chapter 11

1

BUT King Shalomah loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Phar'oh, women of the Mo'aviym, Ammoniym, Edomiym, Tsiydoniym, and Chittiym;

2

Of the nations concerning which Yahuah said unto the children of Yashar'el, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their elohiym: Shalomah clave unto these in love.

3

And he had seven hundred women, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his women turned away his heart.

4

For it came to pass, when Shalomah was old, that his women turned away his heart after other elohiym: and his heart was not perfect with Yahuah Elohayu, as was the heart of Daviyd his father.

5

For Shalomah went after Ashtoreth the elohai of the Tsiydoniym, and after Malkam the abomination of the Ammoniym.

6

And Shalomah did evil in the sight of Yahuah, and went not fully after Yahuah, as did David his father.

7

Then did Shalomah build a high place for Kemosh, the abomination of Mo'av, in the hill that is before Yerushalayim, and for Molek, the abomination of the children of Ammon.

8

And likewise did he for all his strange women, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their elohiym.

9

And Yahuah was angry with Shalomah, because his heart was turned from Yahuah Elohai of Yashar'el, which had appeared unto him twice,

10

And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other elohiym: but he did not guard that את which Yahuah commanded.

11

Wherefore Yahuah said unto Shalomah, Forasmuch as this is done of you, and you have not guarded my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely rend the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant.

12

Notwithstanding in your days I will not do it for David your father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of your son.

13

Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to your son for David my servant's sake, and for Yerushalayim's sake which I have chosen.

14

And Yahuah stirred up an adversary unto Shalomah, את Hadad the Edomiy: he was of the king's seed in Edom.

15

For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Yo'av the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;

16

(For six months did Yo'av remain there with all Yashar'el, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)

17

That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomiym of his father's servants with him, to go into Mitsrayim; Hadad being yet a little child.

18

And they arose out of Midyan, and came to Pa'ran: and they took men with them out of Pa'ran, and they came to Mitsrayim, unto Phar'oh king of Mitsrayim; which gave him a house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.

19

And Hadad found great favor in the sight of Phar'oh, so that he gave him to be his woman the sister of his own woman, the sister of Tachpeneyc the queen.

20

And the sister of Tachpeneyc bore him את Genubath his son, whom Tachpeneyc weaned in Phar'oh's house: and Genubath was in Phar'oh's household among the sons of Phar'oh.

21

And when Hadad heard in Mitsrayim that David slept with his fathers, and that Yo'av the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Phar'oh, Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.

22

Then Phar'oh said unto him, But what have you lacked with me, that, behold, you seek to go to your own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.

23

And Elohiym stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Elyada, which fled from his adoniy Hadad`ezer king of Tsovah:

24

And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Tsovah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

25

And he was an adversary to Yashar'el all the days of Shalomah, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Yashar'el, and reigned over Aram.

26

And Yarov'am the son of Nevat, an Ephrathiy of Tseredah, Shalomah's servant, whose mother's name was Tseru'ah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.

27

And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Shalomah built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

28

And the man Yarov'am was a mighty man of valor: and Shalomah seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Yoceph.

29

And it came to pass at that time when Yarov'am went out of Yerushalayim, that the prophet Achiyahu the Shiyloniy found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:

30

And Achiyahu caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:

31

And he said to Yarov'am, Take you ten pieces: for thus says Yahuah, the Elohai of Yashar'el, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Shalomah, and will give את ten tribes to you:

32

(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Yerushalayim's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Yashar'el:)

33

Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the elohai of the Tsiydoniym, Kemosh the elohai of the Mo'aviym, and Malkam the elohai of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes, and to guard my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

34

Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he guarded my commandments and my statutes:

35

But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto you, את even ten tribes.

36

And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light always before me in Yerushalayim, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.

37

And I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires, and shall be king over Yashar'el.

38

And it shall be, if you will hearken unto all that I command you, and will walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to guard my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with you, and build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Yashar'el unto you.

39

And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not forever.

40

Shalomah sought therefore to kill Yarov'am. And Yarov'am arose, and fled into Mitsrayim, unto Shiyshaq king of Mitsrayim, and was in Mitsrayim until the death of Shalomah.

41

And the rest of the acts of Shalomah, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the cepher of the acts of Shalomah?

42

And the time that Shalomah reigned in Yerushalayim over all Yashar'el was forty years.

43

And Shalomah slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rechav'am his son reigned in his stead.
